Congresswoman Adams Statement Following the GOP Healthcare Bill Advancement Out of Committee
Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after the GOP healthcare bill passed out of both the Ways and Means and the Energy and Commerce Committees.
“During the passage of the Affordable Care Act, Democrats held 14 months of debate and hundreds of hearings. Forty-eight hours after releasing their bill to the public, Republicans forced their legislation through not one but two committees while still failing to answer how much it will cost,” said Congresswoman Adams. “The only thing we do know is that families will pay more for less coverage, senior’s premiums will soar, and it will take Medicaid away from eleven million Americans. Our healthcare is too important for political grandstanding and the American people deserve better.”
