Eviction Moratorium Community Collaborative

 

Mecklenburg County, in partnership with District Courts, the Charlotte Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee and other community partners, is piloting an “Eviction Moratorium Community Collaborative.”

The “Eviction Moratorium Community Collaborative” establishes a primary agency point of contact to connect households with pending summary ejectment hearings to resources such as mediation, legal and financial assistance.

 

Mediation

  • If you are a tenant at risk of eviction or a landlord seeking rent or restitution for damages, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community Relations Committee Dispute Settlement Program can be reached at 704-336-5330 and charlottenc.gov/communityrelations

 

Legal Assistance

  • For legal assistance related to a pending eviction, you can contact Legal Aid at 704-594-8662 or www.legalaidnc.org

 

  • For legal assistance for the immigrant population, you can contact the Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy at 704 376-1600 or charlottelegaladvocacy.org

 

Rental and Utility Assistance

  • For rental and utility assistance due to job or income loss related to Covid-19, DreamKey Partners may be able to help. Individuals, families and landlords can apply for these resources at RAMPCLT.com

 

  • For rental and utility assistance not due to a COVID-19 related financial hardship, Crisis Assistance Ministry may be able to help. They can be reached at 704-371-3001 or you can find additional information online at crisisassistance.org/applynow

 

General Resources

  • For general health and human service information, call United Way at 211

 

  • For Food and Nutrition Services (also known as SNAP or EBT), Medicaid, or other benefits, you can visit Mecklenburg County’s All Access Site at allaccess.mecknc.gov or by calling 704-336-3000

 

  • Households can also apply in person at the Department of Social Services (DSS) Kuralt Building at 301 Billingsley Rd. or our Community Resource Center at 3205 Freedom Dr.

 

  • Mecklenburg County Public Health’s WIC program provides basic nutrition services to eligible pregnant women, mothers, infants and children until age 5. You can make a WIC appointment online at www.nutritionnc.com/wic/wic-referral.asp or by calling 704-336-6500.
