Adams Condemns the Administration’s Budget Blueprint

Press Release

Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after the administration announced their proposed budget.

“This so called ‘America first’ budget is anything but that. It turns its back on hard working Americans and puts our nation on a path backwards,” said Congresswoman Adams.

“The President’s proposal eliminates TIGER grants and other vital funding for transportation and infrastructure, does away with the Community Development Block Grant that helps revitalize our neighborhoods, abolishes workforce development programs that assist in closing the skills gap, and threatens public education with a shift of $250 million to private school vouchers. If adopted, this budget would be devastating for Mecklenburg County.

“With little consideration for our future, this proposal places a huge burden on hard working Charlotteans and fails to fund the programs we rely on; therefore I will not support it.”
