Adams Responds to President Trump’s Announcement of New Tariffs on Mexico, Canada, and European Union
Charlotte, N.C.—Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) responded to President Trump’s announcement of a twenty-five percent tariff on steel and ten percent tariff on aluminum products from Mexico, Canada, and the European Union.
“For the second time this month, President Trump has imposed tariffs that are bringing us closer to a trade war with our allies and has offered no long-term strategy. His impulsive actions endanger our world standing and will have a catastrophic impact on our economy,” said Congresswoman Adams. “North Carolina farmers are still reeling from the announcement of retaliatory pork tariffs from China and now their businesses will be hit hard again as they face similar retaliatory tariffs from Mexico and the European Union. President Trump owes the American people an explanation of his long-term economic agenda and the impact that it will have on their jobs and businesses here at home.”
