Adams Statement on Trump’s Executive Order to Undercut the Affordable Care Act

Press Release

Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after President Trump signed an Executive Order that undercuts the Affordable Care Act.

“Since taking office nearly nine months ago, President Trump hasn’t accomplished anything. His base is turning on him and this haphazard Executive Order is a pathetic political ploy to regain their support,” said Congresswoman Adams. “After multiple failed attempts to repeal the ACA, President Trump has resorted to sabotaging our country’s health insurance market. This reckless action will drive up premiums, incentivize insurers to exit the marketplace, and destabilize health insurance markets, causing millions of Americans to lose their quality, affordable health insurance. The American people have spoken and they want to keep their health insurance. Instead of spitefully undermining our healthcare system, this administration should be working across the aisle to strengthen and improve the ACA for all Americans.”
