It is essential that North Carolina residents are informed on the status of the hurricanes as updates are made available and prepared for the possibility of the storm impacting their city. The following resources can be used to track hurricanes and learn how to stay safe.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA):www.Ready.Gov, has a mobile app available for Apple and Android devices that allow you to receive updates from the National Weather Service, learn emergency preparedness tips and locate emergency centers near you that have FEMA personnel ready to assist you at each location. This app is free and can be installed by searching “FEMA” in the app store, or you can download it by clickinghere using an Android device andhere using an Apple device.
Other good resources to track the hurricane are The National Weather Service (NWS)www.weather.gov and The National Hurricane Center atwww.hurricanes.gov, or receive updates on Twitter by following @NOAA and @NWS.

The service is available in 180 languages 24/7 by simply dialing 2-1-1 or visiting 211.org (in life threatening situations people should call 9-1-1).
