Adams, Walker Tour Volvo Headquarters in Greensboro

February 6, 2015
Greensboro, North Carolina –Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after touring Volvo Group's Greensboro campus with Congressman Mark Walker (NC-6). Volvo's Greensboro campus is the home of the North American headquarters for Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, and Volvo Financial Services. The campus spans over 650,000 square feet in total and is shared by both the 6th and 12th Congressional District of North Carolina. Volvo Group accounts for 2,200 jobs in the Piedmont Triad region.
"When I was elected, I made it clear that I am committed to working with all of my colleagues to continue moving our country forward. That means focusing on the issues that we can all agree on. For Mark and me, that's creating jobs and strengthening our local economies," said Rep. Adams.
"As the newest Member of the House Committee on Small Business, I took special pride in today's tour. Volvo is situated in both the 12th and the 6th districts which made it the perfect place for us to come together in a bipartisan fashion," continued Adams.
"Learning about businesses – both big and small is extremely important to me. It was a real opportunity to learn more about the issues impacting local businesses while also hearing directly from the hardworking men and women who power Volvo, a company that has added over 2,000 jobs in the Piedmont Triad region. Today's visit made it clear that our companies are continuing to grow and are moving in the right direction. We've made progress here in Greensboro; we are a thriving city and our workforce is one of our greatest assets. That is why we must all be committed to working together to ensure that the national economic recovery continues to be felt here at home," said Adams.
"This tour was the first of many bipartisan efforts that my office will participate in. I look forward to working with Mark, other members of the North Carolina delegation, and all of my Congressional colleagues to tackle the economic issues that are impacting our working families," concluded Adams.
Congressman Mark Walker [NC-6] also commented on the tour adding:
"Volvo is a fundamental part of the economy of Guilford County, and I am appreciative of all they do in serving our community" said Rep. Walker. "Today's tour allowed for both Rep. Adams and I to hear directly from their employees and see their hard work and skills in action. Receiving their feedback and concerns is crucial in helping us better advocate for our constituents in Washington," concluded Walker.
