Congresswoman Alma Adams Statement on the FY2017 Continuing Resolution
Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement regarding the passage of the FY2017 Continuing Resolution:
“Today I voted for a short-term continuing resolution that will fund our nation’s government until April 28, 2017” said Congresswoman Adams. “I am disappointed this Republican led Congress has once again failed the American people by not putting forth a long term budget, but there was too much at stake not to support this measure.
“This budget isn’t perfect but it keeps American workers employed and our government running. It also contains crucial funding for North Carolinians still reeling from the damage caused by Hurricane Matthew.
“I’m troubled that Republicans attached a new standard of consideration for President-Elect Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense to such a critical piece of legislation. It’s a partisan and irresponsible move that threatens to erode civilian leadership of our military, a bedrock principle of our democracy.”
