June 30, 2016

Greensboro, NC - Today, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams joined the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of the National Ombudsman for a roundtable with small business owners to discuss fairness in regulatory enforcement.

Congresswoman Adams, along with the SBA met with Greensboro area small business owners to hear concerns regarding federal compliance regulations and to share helpful tips on how to comply with federal regulations. Today small business owners face many challenges including access to capital and lending opportunities. These small businesses also face the challenge of regulatory compliance without access to technical assistance from federal regulators.

Area business owners had the unique opportunity to speak with Congresswoman Alma S. Adams who has been a staunch supporter of small businesses, serving as Ranking Member of the U.S. Small Business Committee’s Subcommittee on Investigations, Oversight, and Regulations; and also high ranking officials from SBA’s Office of the National Ombudsman. This roundtable allowed business owners, legislators and thought leaders to come together and discuss ideas and share information in order to make the federal regulatory process easier to comply with.

"Advocating for and assisting small businesses is crucial because they provide the fuel that drives America's prosperity," said Earl Gay, National Ombudsman.

“Small businesses are the fastest growing sector and largest job creators in today’s economy. We must do all that we can to make resources for business owners accessible and available to them in order to level the playing field and to provide pathways to success, said Rep. Adams.
