Rep. Adams Supports Jobs and Manufacturing in High Point

August 25, 2016

HIGHPOINT, NC — Congresswoman Adams (NC-12) continued her August Made in the 12th tour by visiting NCWorks Career Center and Jack Cartwright Inc. of Boss Design Group in High Point.

NCWorks Career Center is a one-stop resource for job seekers and employers. During her visit, Congresswoman Adams discussed the challenges workers face in today’s job market. The conversations centered on the need to address the jobs and skills gap and other ways to prepare workers to compete in the global economy.

Rep. Adams also visited Jack Cartwright Inc. of Boss Design Group, to discuss challenges faced by manufacturers in the 12th District. Presently, 83% of manufacturers across the nation are unable to find skilled workers to fill available jobs. To address this, manufacturers like the Boss Design Group have deployed innovative strategies to better prepare job seekers for available jobs and to better provide higher paying positions for North Carolina’s workforce. During the tour, Rep. Adams met with company leadership to discuss these strategies and ways to help our local manufacturers continue to grow and hire more people here at home.

“I launched the Made in the 12th District Tour to see firsthand how we can better address the jobs and skills gap. Our people are our greatest commodity and workers in the 12th District have the potential to be the most productive workforce in the nation. That is why I am committed to working with local businesses, schools and workers to ensure our people and businesses have the tools needed to fill open jobs and to compete in the global economy. Today’s tour stops have given me crucial information that I will take back to Washington and use to put forth meaningful legislation that will get more people back to work and our economy moving in the right direction,” said Rep. Adams.

“It was truly an honor to have Representative Adams take the time to visit the NCWorks Career Center in High Point, NC. Representative Adams has always been a champion for the development of a strong workforce in North Carolina, particularly within the 12th District. Today, she heard the success stories and participated in the discussion on the present and future needs of the county. We hope that she left knowing that the federal resources provided to our facilities are being used wisely towards the ultimate goal, that being to strengthen our workforce in Guilford County and North Carolina at large,” said NCWorks Career Center.

“We are delighted to have had Congresswoman Adams visit our facility at Boss Designs today. Her passion for job creation through training in local businesses is the key to our company’s continued success. Our employees benefit greatly from the platforms that Congresswoman Adams promotes. In particular through Boss Design’s outreach of global sales and exporting goods translate in local jobs that provide “higher than average” manufacturing wages for our team members and the local High Point region. Her vision and leadership align with our corporate structure and goals perfectly. We are proud to have her as our voice in Congress,” said Jack Cartwright, Inc. of Boss Design Group.
