Grand Opening of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition Exhibition

Congresswoman Adams will host a public exhibition this month to showcase North Carolina’s 12th Congressional District’s student submissions for the Congressional Art Challenge.
The five finalists for the prestigious artwork competition will be recognized by Rep. Adams during the program, and all remaining submissions from the district will be installed in the Star Gallery of the Mint Museum Uptown, where they will be on display for two weeks. Members of Congress reserve the right to choose the winners of the competition within their districts themselves. However, Rep. Adams, an artist, art professor, and art historian, chooses an independent panel of judges to determine five finalists, including a winner, two runners up, and two honorable mentions.
The winning piece will be celebrated at a Winner’s Celebration at the Capitol Visitor Center in Washington, D.C. on June 27th, after which it will be on display in the U.S. Capitol Cannon tunnel for the next year, alongside the other over 400 winners from around the country. The two runners up will be on display in Congresswoman Adams’ office at the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., and the two honorable mentions will be on display in her district office in Charlotte.
The general public is invited to attend the public reception on May 19th, but we ask that you please RSVP using the form below.
If you are unable to attend the reception, the gallery will remain open to the public until June 2nd.
