Constituent Casework Update During the Shift in Congressional District Maps

November 30, 2016
Editorial

Dear Constituent:

In February 2016, the North Carolina Supreme Court struck down the current Congressional districts and mandated that the North Carolina General Assembly redraw the lines. The new Congressional districts are slated to take effect when Members of the 115th Congress are sworn into office January 3, 2017. At that time, the 12th Congressional District will be in Mecklenburg County only.

If my office is presently assisting you with an issue involving a federal agency and you reside in Forsyth, Guilford, Davidson, Rowan or Cabarrus County, you will be receiving a letter from me informing you of your new Congressional District and who your Member of Congress will be. So that my office can continue to assist you in the best possible way between now and the end of December 2016, the letter that you receive will also ask you to complete and return a form instructing me on how you want your case handled. Please feel free to contact Ms. Barbara Carter, Director of constituent Services at 704-344-9950 or barbara.carter@mail.house.gov if you have any questions.

It has been an honor to represent your concerns and I look forward to serving the constituents of the newly formed 12th Congressional District of North Carolina in Mecklenburg County.

Sincerely,

Alma S. Adams, PHD

Member of Congress

12th District, North Carolina
