Adams Announces Funding for Affordable Housing
Washington, DC – Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., (NC-12) released the following statement, announcing that North Carolina's 12th Congressional District will benefit from $500,000 in affordable housing funding awarded by the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta (FHLBank Atlanta).
"We are facing an affordable housing crisis with nearly half of renters in Charlotte spending more than 30 percent of their income on housing. This issue remains a top priority and I have called for additional resources to develop, build, and preserve affordable housing," said Congresswoman Alma Adams. "I am pleased to announce this grant, which will help ensure that our seniors have an opportunity to reside in a secure and supportive environment. All people deserve a safe and healthy home and the District's partnership with FHLBank Atlanta will create more affordable housing opportunities for the people of #OneMeck."
"Affordable Housing is a critical need for every state in FHLBank Atlanta's district," said Arthur L. Fleming, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Investment Services for FHLBank Atlanta. "We are grateful to Representative Adams for her attention to this important issue, and we are proud our AHP funds will be used by our member financial institutions to assist the development, rental, or purchase of much-needed safe and affordable housing in North Carolina's 12th Congressional District."
Community Developers in North Carolina's 12th Congressional District will partner with local FHLBank Atlanta member financial institutions to build a 60-unit affordable apartment development for senior citizens.
