Adams Condemns President Trump’s Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement
Charlotte, N.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after President Trump announced that he will withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement.
"This decision is detrimental to the US economy and our world standing," said Congresswoman Adams. "As the second largest carbon polluter in the world, the United States should be leading efforts to reduce emissions and curtail climate change; instead, President Trump has chosen to jeopardize the more than 75,000 clean energy jobs that employ North Carolinians and do an untold amount of diplomatic damage. This action only serves to weaken the United States as nearly 200 other nations have adopted the agreement and will continue to move toward a world economy built on clean energy. This is yet another misguided decision by this administration that turns back the progress we've made to protect our environment for generations to come."
