Adams Inducted into Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women’s History Hall of Fame
Charlotte, NC —Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) was inducted into the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women's History Hall of Fame.
"I'm proud to be honored alongside so many remarkable Mecklenburg women. From the school board to the Congress, I've been privileged to serve our community and our state for over thirty years," said Congresswoman Adams. "During this Women's History Month, I'm thankful to be a surrounded by an exceptional community of women and proud to continue representing the 12th District in Congress."
As the 100th woman to be elected to the 113th Congress in 2014, Congresswoman Adams has been an ambassador for equity and change on Capitol Hill.Congresswoman Adams founded the first ever Congressional Bipartisan Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Caucus in 2015, which works to promote and protect the interests of HBCUs across the nation. She also serves in several leadership positions including, Assistant Whip for the Democratic Caucus, Vice-Ranking Member of the Small Business Committee, and ranking member of the Small Business Subcommittee on Investigations, Oversight, and Regulation. Prior to serving in Congress, Congresswoman Adams served ten terms in the North Carolina General Assembly.
The Hall of Fame is sponsored by the Levine Museum in conjunction with National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club. The Hall of Fame has honored trailblazing Charlotte-Mecklenburg Women since 2000.
