Adams Responds to SCOTUS Stay of North Carolina Gerrymandering Case

January 18, 2018

Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to issue a stay of the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina ruling on the gerrymandered congressional districts in North Carolina.

"This disappointing decision delays the restoration of power to our electorate," said Congresswoman Adams. "North Carolina's lawsuit is now one of three partisan gerrymandering cases before the Supreme Court this year. I urge the Supreme Court to keep the best interests of all North Carolinians in mind and swiftly rule to uphold the lower court's decision."
