Adams Statement on First Day of Open Enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplaces

November 1, 2017

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement on the first day of open enrollment for the 2018 Affordable Care Act marketplaces, which runs from November 1 through December 15 for 42 states including North Carolina, with 8 states and D.C. having longer enrollment periods.

"Despite Republican efforts to undermine the Affordable Care Act, it is still the law of the land. In North Carolina, more than 549,000 people have gained quality, affordable health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. With the start of open enrollment, families and individuals can get covered for 2018 from now through December 15th, 2017," said Congresswoman Adams. "Last year, eight in ten people in the marketplaces qualified for assistance paying their premiums, with most paying between $50 and $100 per month. In Congress, I'll keep fighting for lower premiums and increased access to care. In the meantime, don't let President Trump's fake news that the Affordable Care Act is dead stop you from getting your family covered."
