Adams Statement on First Mueller Indictments

Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma S. Adams (NC-12) released the following statement after news that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and associate Rick Gates have been ordered to surrender to federal custody today.

"The indictment of President Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort cannot be taken lightly," said Congresswoman Adams. "Today's development's make it clear that there are still many unknown facts and the Mueller investigation must continue without interference. It's imperative that Congress also establish an outside, fully independent investigation to expose Russia's meddling in our election. As investigators continue to gather the facts we must remain focused on the issue at hand and resist any attempt to distract the American public with partisan political tactics."
