Adams Statement on Michigan State University Shooting
CHAROTTE (February 14, 2023) – This morning, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released a statement following the mass shooting on the campus of Michigan State University last night:
“Today is the fifth anniversary of the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
“It is yet another morning in our country after a mass shooting, this time at Michigan State University.
“It is yet another morning of parents frantically calling and texting their children as calls to the phones of the victims go unanswered.
“It is yet another morning where we know the name of the killer, but wait for the names of the beloved he took from us.
“It is yet another morning of praying for the family and friends of the victims and survivors.
“It is yet another morning that, as a life-long educator, my heart breaks for the students who will always be missing a part of their student body.
“Scripture tells us, “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” However, it is yet another morning at a school in the United States with crime scenes, cancelled classes, and grief counselors.
“How many sunrises must be spoiled before we act?”
