Adams' Statement on the New Speaker

WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 25, 2023) - For the past twenty-one days the House of Representatives has been without a speaker and unable to do the people's work. 

Today, House Republicans selected MAGA extremist, Mike Johnson, the GOP's election denying architect as Speaker of the House. “Speaker Johnson was responsible for spearheading efforts to overturn the 2020 elections, voted against women's rights and to criminalize abortions, voted against bi-partisan legislation to codify same-sex marriage, and as Republican Study Committee Chair, he orchestrated budget plans to gut social security and Medicare,” said Adams.

“I am grateful that we can now get back to work after weeks of chaos and dysfunction. The House Democrats will always extend the hand of partnership to get things done for the American people."
