Adams Statement on Price Retirement

October 18, 2021

"The Tar Heel State delegation has big shoes to fill."

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. released the following statement celebrating the career of North Carolina's longest-serving Member of Congress, Rep. David Price (NC-04).

"David Price is not only the dean of North Carolina's congressional delegation, he's also a North Carolina legend. David helped build the modern North Carolina Democratic Party and has been a tireless representative for our state for over three decades in Congress," said Congresswoman Alma Adams."As a fellow college professor, David has always put education at the forefront. I especially appreciate David's work to bring the successes of North Carolina's Teaching Fellows program to all 50 states; his work on student aid reform to cut interest rates and increase the number and size of Pell Grants; and the Price Education Affordability Act, which allows families to deduct the interest on student loans. As an appropriator, Chairman Price has worked to make housing more affordable for North Carolinians while investing in multi-modal transportation across our state, including the Lynx Blue Line in Charlotte."

"The Tar Heel State delegation has big shoes to fill. I wish David the best in his retirement, and thank him for both his friendship and his decades of service to our state," Adams concluded.
