Adams’ Statement on Robert F. Smith Paying Student Loans for Morehouse Graduates

Charlotte, NC— Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) issued the following statement on Robert F. Smith's announcement that he will pay the student loan debt for the graduating class of Morehouse College.

"Robert F. Smith has made an extraordinary investment in the promising young graduates of Morehouse College. I have no doubt they will honor him and pay it forward. His action will change the lives of these students and should be an example. We know graduates are too often saddled with student loan debt. Going forward we must find a way to make college more affordable for every student. I intend to work with my colleagues on the Education and Labor Committee to do just that. I thank Robert Smith for his generosity and extend warm congratulations to the graduates and administrators at Morehouse College."
