Adams' Statement on the Trump Administration’s Immigration Proposal

Washington, DC — Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) issued the following statement on President Trump's proposed immigration plan.

"America's immigration system is broken. Yet, instead of working with Congress to develop a serious solution to this crisis, the Trump Administration has doubled down on policies that have only made our immigration system worse.

The Administration's latest immigration plan ignores the Dreamers, limits access for asylum seekers, continues building the ineffective border wall, and focuses on merit visas that favor immigrants from certain backgrounds. This is unacceptable.

Immigrants are part of the fabric of this country, and I will continue to fight for immigration reform that reflects the needs of families, defends the Dreamers, and creates a pathway to citizenship."
