Adams Supports Disaster Relief Funding for Victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma
Washington, D.C.—Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) joined her Democratic colleagues to vote in favor of H.R. 601 the Hurricane Supplemental, Debt Limit, Continuing Appropriations, and Flood Insurance Package which passed the House in a vote of 316-90.
"As Hurricanes Irma and Jose barrel toward the United States, and communities continue to recover from Hurricanes Harvey and Matthew, it is irresponsible that seven of my North Carolina Republican colleagues voted against sending critical aid to areas devastated by the storms," said Congresswoman Adams. "The $15.25 billion in emergency funds that were allocated today will help impacted regions rebuild by providing additional funds to the FEMA Disaster Relief Fund, Community Development Block Grant programs, and the Small Business Administration's disaster loan program. Today's action was the first step in a long road to recovery but it cannot be our last. I implore my Republican colleagues to show empathy to our fellow Americans during a time of need and to refrain from jeopardizing future funding for our state during natural disasters."
