Press Release

Charlotte, N.C.—Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) visited ImaninOn Library in Charlotte in celebration of National Library Week. She joined students in participating in STEM 101: Sphero Ball which allows children ages 12-18 to take part in a variety of hands-on science experiments, engineering projects, or Math puzzles.

“It is imperative that students from all backgrounds have access to STEAM education to prepare for the jobs of the future,” said Congresswoman Adams. “The partnership between ImaginOn Library and NC Science Fest gives students early exposure to coding and robotics and encourages creativity. As a retired educator, I’ve seen the impact STEAM learning has on students. In Washington, I’ll continue to support STEAM initiatives and fight for critical resources to provide all students with a well-rounded education.”

“We appreciate Congresswoman Adams’ visit to ImaginOn during our celebration of National Library Week,” says Charlotte Mecklenburg Library spokesperson Cordelia Anderson. “This program is a great way to illustrate the theme of National Library Week, ‘libraries transform,’ because it introduces teens to science as part of our collaboration with NC Science Fest.”
