Adams Votes No on CHIP/CHC Bill
Washington, D.C.—Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement on her decision to vote “No” on the Republican reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and Community Health Centers (CHC):
“This bill is not a reauthorization; it’s yet another inhumane cut to vital healthcare programs,” said Congresswoman Adams. “For 32 years I’ve fought for community health centers and for all children to have access to quality and affordable healthcare. That’s why I could not support this heartless measure.
“Yesterday, Republicans unveiled a tax plan that slashes the corporate tax rate by 15% and today they voted to gut our children’s healthcare to pay for it. I urge my Senate colleagues to reject this partisan bill and pass a clean reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program and Community Health Centers that Democrats can support.”
