Congresswoman Adams Announces Schedule for the February District Work Period
WASHINGTON, D.C.— Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following schedule of events and tours that she will be participating in during the February District Work Period (February 16th-20th). This will be the first District Work Period of the 114th Congress.
Monday, February 16th
On Monday, Congresswoman Adams will tour two local businesses. As a member of the House Small Business Committee, Congresswoman Adams has made it a priority to visit local businesses. These visits will allow the Congresswoman to further discuss the issues affecting business development within the District. Wednesday, February 18th
As a member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, Congresswoman Adams is committed to promoting continuing education and workforce development programs. To highlight the importance of these programs, Congresswoman Adams will kick off her first annual Undercover Congresswoman tour on Wednesday. Last week, she introduced her first bill, the STEM PREP Act, which provides competitive federal grants for community colleges offering STEM curricula as part of their workforce development programs. Every month, Congresswoman Adams will work undercover alongside employees at local tech companies employing community college graduates.

Thursday, February 19th
Continued investments in transportation and infrastructure are a top priority for Congresswoman Adams. Last year, she met with city officials from Charlotte and earlier this year she met with North Carolina Department of Transportation Secretary, Tony Tata, and U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary, Anthony Foxx, in her Washington, D.C. office. As a follow up to those meetings, Congresswoman Adams will be in Charlotte to further explore federal funding opportunities for transportation projects in the District.
