Congresswoman Adams District Community Event on U.S. Service Academies
Charlotte, NC – Today, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. released a statement announcing the One Meck Service Academy Day, an annual event held for students interested in attending one of the nation’s five United States Service Academies.
Congresswoman Adams’ district office will host the annual Service Academy Day for students and parents on Saturday, September 29th, 2018, from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Hawthorne Academy of Health Sciences. A representative from each service academy will provide a comprehensive overview and information on how students can secure an appointment to attend one of these prestigious institutions.
“For over 200 years, the United States Service Academies have provided training and undergraduate education to future commissioned officers in the United States Armed Forces,” said Congresswoman Adams. “I welcome students and families who are interested in attending one of our nation’s service academies to attend the One Meck Service Academy Day event. Last year, our district announced a record number of appointments. I hope that this informational session, coupled with the talent of our local youth, will produce even more candidates in the coming year.”
Congresswoman Alma S. Adams nominates high school seniors from the Twelfth District for appointment to the U.S. Military (USMA), Naval (USNA), Air Force (USAFA) and Merchant Marine Academies (USMMA). Candidates applying to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy may seek nomination from any U.S. Representative within the state that he or she resides. The U.S. Coast Guard Academy does not require a nomination.
