Congresswoman Adams on the Passing of Former UNC System President Spangler

Washington, D.C.— Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement today on the passing of former UNC President C.D. Spangler:

"North Carolina has lost a pioneer for education and philanthropy. A native of Charlotte, President Spangler began his educational advocacy work on the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education and went on to serve as Chairman of the North Carolina Board of Education. While serving as President of the UNC system, he was a tireless advocate for college affordability and maintaining low tuition for students. His contributions to education and throughout our state will be remembered for generations to come."
