Congresswoman Adams’ Response to Google’s Announcement to Bring Fiber to Charlotte
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, Congresswoman Alma Adams [NC-12] released the following statement in response to Google's announcement to build a high-speed fiber-optic network in Charlotte, North Carolina. Google announced today that 18 cities across four new metro areas including: Atlanta, Charlotte, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham, are among the new areas where Google will build a network of gigabit Internet, with speeds up to 100 times faster than today's basic broadband.
"I am pleased to learn of yesterday's announcement and commend Google for its initiative to bring high-speed broadband networks to our local communities and neighborhoods," said Rep. Adams. "Access to high speed internet will not only lower costs for current consumers, but it will help open doors for those who currently do not have access or cannot afford basic internet services," continued Adams. "Google's investment in our community will also bring business to North Carolina's 12th District," concluded Adams.
