Congresswoman Adams Statement on the Chapel Hill Shooting

February 12, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement about the shooting of three students at Chapel Hill, North Carolina:

"On Tuesday, an unspeakable tragedy occurred in our state. Three young lives were lost to a senseless and tragic act of violence. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and the friends of Deah Shaddy Barakat, his wife, Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, and her sister Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha.

"As a mother of two children, I cannot imagine the sorrow that the Abu-Salha and Barakat families are grappling with. As you come together today to honor your children's legacy, please know that I mourn with you. I extend my deepest sympathies to you and your families.

"Your children's commitment to service and scholarship will not be forgotten."
