Congresswoman Adams Statement on Hurricane Florence Landfall
Charlotte, NC - “Hurricane Florence has officially made landfall in North Carolina and is already causing major flooding and devastation along the coast. The storm is projected to release over ten inches of rain in Charlotte, triggering life threatening flood conditions in Mecklenburg. I urge all North Carolinians and residents of the 12th District to remain safe today and throughout the duration of this storm. It is critical that all residents prepare emergency kits, remain inside or visit a shelter, and have an emergency evacuation plan prepared. Today, I joined my colleagues in the North Carolina congressional delegation in a letter urging FEMA to approve Governor Cooper’s request for an expedited major disaster declaration for the State of North Carolina so that greater disaster relief resources are deployed to the district. I will be closing my Charlotte district office today at 12PM. I encourage all residents to remain calm and take this storm seriously. My prayers are with you and all who will be impacted by this storm.”
