Congresswoman Adams Votes No on H.R. 30 – “Save American Workers Act of 2015”

January 8, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC— Today Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) voted no on H.R. 30, "Save American Workers Act of 2015." Congresswoman Adams gave the following comments regarding her vote:

"Today Republicans have once again attempted to undermine the Affordable Care Act with H.R. 30. The name of the bill is the Save American Workers Act. Well, it certainly does not save American workers. By increasing the 30 hour per week threshold to 40 hours they are only making it easier for employers to deny much needed health care to their employees. We should be passing legislation that provides more people access to health insurance not making it harder to obtain. Many hourly workers are already working for low pay and now Republicans want to make their health care uncertain. I cannot and will not support that, but will continue to fight for people to gain more access to health insurance. This bill does not support that effort and therefore I voted against it."
