WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. made two appointments for the U.S. Naval Academy this week, naming incoming student cadets for the Fall 2024 Semester.

Haven Monroe, of Huntersville, NC, and Peyton Painter, of Charlotte, received personal congratulations from Rep. Adams today, in which she informed them she would be appointing them to the U.S. Naval Academy. Rep. Adams carefully considered the students’ exemplary academic and professional achievements before making their appointments.

Monroe a resident of Huntersville, North Carolina, is ranked 13th out of 253 students at Jay M. Robinson High School. She earned her private pilot’s license through the Air Force JROTC Flight Academy at Purdue University, bringing a private pilot’s license with her to the Naval Academy. Painter, from Charlotte, is ranked third of 101 students at Bradford Preparatory School, where he created the Quiz Bowl Club.

“Peyton Painter, who seeks to become a pilot for the US Navy, demonstrates both creativity and diligence in his record at Bradford Preparatory School,” said Rep. Adams. “Haven Monroe, who already has Air Force flight training under her belt, will bring valuable experience to the Naval Academy for her classmates to learn from. Both of these students will show the Navy why North Carolina is the birthplace of flight and will help maintain American leadership in the air and on the seas.”
