Congresswoman Alma Adams Condemns a Very Bad Week in Washington
Washington, D.C.—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) made the following statement after a week of highly partisan attacks led by radical Republicans to begin the 115th Congress.
“I am appalled by the behavior of extremist Congressional Republicans who would rather push an ideological agenda than tackle the issues facing our nation” said Congresswoman Adams.
“I had hoped our first week back in Washington would center on responsible governing that would benefit the American people. Instead of discussing a jobs package or an infrastructure plan, House Republicans launched an all-out offensive against the legislative gains of the past year. We wasted 4 days this week re-litigating old battles, trying to repeal healthcare, attempting to defund Planned Parenthood, and rolling back regulations that protected our environment, workers, and students.
“The American people sent us to DC to govern and, with so much at stake, we cannot afford this type of obstructionist behavior.”
