During National Small Business Week Adams hosts the Hustle & Grow Small Business Roundtable
Charlotte, NC — Today, during National Small Business Week, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., Vice Ranking Member of the House Small Business Committee, hosted the Hustle & Grow Small Business Roundtable. Attendees, and those that viewed via livestream, took part in a discussion regarding the opportunities available to small businesses and the unique challenges faced by small businesses. Rep. Adams was joined at the roundtable by Charlotte Councilman James Mitchell Jr., and representatives from Charlotte SCORE, Mecklenburg County’s Office of Economic Development, the Business Expansion Funding Corporation (BEFCOR), the Small Business Administration, and Wells Fargo.
“North Carolina small businesses employ more than 1.6 million people, or 44%, of our workforce. They are the backbone of our economy,” said Congresswoman Adams. “During National Small Business Week, we recommit ourselves to ensuring that small businesses have the resources they need to thrive and to continue being the job creating engines of our economy.”
Last year, the House of Representatives passed Rep. Adams’ small business bill: SCORE for Small Business Act of 2017. SCORE is the largest federal business mentoring program to help Americans start and grow their small businesses. This year, Rep. Adams introduced the Veterans Small Business Tax Credit Act, which helps relieve the financial burden of starting a small business on our nation’s veterans by establishing a new tax credit. She also introduced the Women Small Business Growth Act to help female small business owners harness their capital and incentivize job creation.
