Rep. Adams Blasts Delayed Delivery of Ballots

November 2, 2020

"These delivery delays amount to nothing less than ... voter suppression"

CHARLOTTE – Today, CongresswomanAlma Adams (NC-12) responded to breaking news about ballot delays in North Carolina first reported by John Kruzel of The Hill. Her remarks are below:

"I am shocked by the delayed delivery of absentee ballots in Charlotte, Greensboro and across our country - especially when the Postmaster General promised to prioritize election mail," said Congresswoman Adams. "These delivery delays amount to nothing less than structural voter suppression. Those responsible for undermining our election should be held accountable, and an investigation must be launched immediately. Finally, if the Postmaster General played any role in the delays, he should resign."

Congresswoman Alma Adams has represented North Carolina's 12th Congressional District since 2014, and has been a leader in the House of Representatives on postal reform issues. Last week, her plan for postal reform was published in the Harvard Law School Journal on Legislation.
