Rep. Adams Statement on Senate Advancing Kavanaugh Confirmation to Final Vote

Oct 5, 2018
Press Release

Charlotte, NC - “Today, Senate Republicans voted to advance Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation to a final vote. Despite credible allegations of sexual assault and an FBI investigative report that failed to interview Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, Kavanaugh, and other key witnesses, Senate Republicans have plowed through this process to confirm a flawed candidate to serve on our nation’s highest court.

Judge Kavanaugh’s previous judicial positions on civil rights, women, abortion, minority communities, and immigration along with his temperament and partisan statements prove that he will only be a conservative operative with the power to interpret our Constitution and rule on issues with national impact. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to consider the message their votes send to survivors of assault, women, and future generations of Americans and not confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court of the United States.”
