Rep. Alma Adams Statement on the Passing of Rep. Alcee Hastings

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement mourning the passing of her colleague, Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida:

"I am deeply saddened to hear of Congressman Hastings' passing," said Adams. "Alcee was a compassionate Congressman and a leader with conviction and purpose. I admired both his courage and his unique ability to bring reason and deep thought to the many conversations we shared. He was a friend and mentor we all respected, and I will miss his wise counsel and caring demeanor."

"Our nation lost a true fighter and an incredible statesman today. My prayers are with Alcee's wife, Patricia, his children, his family and friends, and the people of Florida."
