Wins for Charlotte and Mecklenburg County

Community Project Funds

  • Directly secured $11.6 million for local community projects, including: 

    • $3 million for the Grieg Heights affordable housing development; 
    • $2 million for the YMCA’s West Boulevard Health Clinic; 
    • $1.2 million to improve the C.W. Williams Community Health Center’s facility; 
    • $1 million for workforce development programs in Mecklenburg County; 
    • $1 million for anti-violence programs in Charlotte; 
    • And more. 

Immigration

  • Cosponsored and voted to pass the American Dream and Promise Act of 2021 (H.R. 6) which would provide DREAMers with protection from deportation, and an opportunity to obtain permanent legal status in the United States. 

Protecting Workers

  • As Chair of the Workforce Protections Subcommittee, Congresswoman Adams chaired a hearing on vaccine requirements in the workplace so that our Nation could better protect workers and their families.

Postal Service 

  • Congresswoman Adams worked closely with House Oversight and Reform Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney to pass H.R. 3076, the Postal Service Reform Act, transformative legislation which removes the onerous pre-funding mandate, integrates USPS retirement health benefits with Medicare, and maintains six-day mail delivery. 

Infrastructure 

  • Voted for President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (H.R. 3684) which will invest over $8 billion directly into North Carolina to improve our roads, help us expand the Light Rail, and install high-speed broadband across the entire state. 

Inflation

  • Voted for the America Creating Opportunities for Manufacturing, Pre-Eminence in Technology, and Economic Strengthening (America COMPETES) Act (H.R. 4521), a comprehensive, strategic package aimed at addressing inflation by investing in the U.S. supply chain so that more goods are made in America, accelerating the production of U.S. made semiconductor chips which are critical for any electronics, and building our research capacity at HBCUs and other institutions of higher education to foster domestic innovation, advance global competitiveness and ensure we lead the technologies of the future.
