May 7, 2020
Press Release
"Your presence here alone is a window into your dedication, discipline and patriotism."
Charlotte – Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) met with her nominees to the United States Military Service Academies at a virtual reception today at 3:00 PM. The reception honored the six 12th District students who recently received appointment offers to attend one of the Service Academies.

“I would be remiss if I didn’t take the time to personally meet with you and congratulate you for earning appointment offers from some of our nation’s most prestigious institutions," said Congresswoman Adams at the reception. "Despite the current reality that we face, this should be an exciting time for you and your families, as you begin to explore all the possible paths of service that lie ahead. Going to a military academy takes a great deal of dedication, perseverance, and grit. Your presence here alone is a window into your dedication, discipline and patriotism.”

The students who received appointments to the Class of 2024 include:
  • Chris Torres of Huntersville: Military Academy at West Point (Lake Norman Charter High School)
  • Ayush Padhi of Charlotte: Naval Academy (Ardrey Kell High School)

  • Tanner Gresham of Huntersville: Military Academy at West Point (Hopewell High School)
  • Olivia Hommes of Charlotte: Air Force Academy (South Mecklenburg High School)
