Charlotte – Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) introduced the bipartisan Eating Disorders Prevention in Schools Act of 2020 (Eating Disorders PSA) yesterday with Representative Vicky Hartzler (R-MO-04).
Charlotte – Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12), as well as her Charlotte and Washington offices, spent the month of April focused on combatting the health and economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, Congresswoman Adams demonstrated national leadership on issues including workplace protections, black maternal health, and food security.

COVID-19
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Alma Adams (D-NC-12) is co-leading a bill introduced by CongresswomanElise Stefanik (R-NY-21). The Equity in Student Loan Relief Act is a bipartisan bill that would extend the temporary relief from student loan payments to Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) borrowers who have been left behind.

WASHINGTON — Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement on the bipartisan passage of the $2 trillion economic aid passage to combat the coronavirus pandemic, also known as the CARES Act, which will now go to the President's desk for his signature:
Charlotte – Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) will host a TeleTown Hall at 6:00 PM on Monday, March 23 to connect constituents with federal, state, and local programs that can provide help and support during the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, she will provide an update on what legislators in Washington are doing to fight the health and economic effects of the coronavirus. Participants will be able to ask questions during a Q&A portion of the call.
WASHINGTON - Today, Workforce Protections Subcommittee Chair Alma Adams (NC-12), Rep. Mark Takano (CA-41), and Rep. Susie Lee (NV-03) introduced the Emergency Family and Medical Leave Expansion Act to ensure workers have access to extended, job-protected leave to care for themselves and their families amid the COVID-19 epidemic.
Washington, D.C. – Today and Tuesday, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) and the Bipartisan Congressional Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Caucus hosted the third annual HBCU STEAM Day of Action. Highlights of the Day of Action included meetings between HBCU leaders and their Congressional representatives, as well as the announcement that six new companies were taking the "HBCU Partnership Challenge," a commitment from employers to increased recruitment at and partnership with Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
