Over the past four years, the day has proven so successful that it has expanded to an entire week. HBCU STEAM Day of Action will be held virtually via Zoom starting today through March 12, 2021.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Early this morning, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) voted to pass H.R. 1319, The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The 1.9 trillion dollar package contains hundreds of millions of dollars in relief for Charlotte and Mecklenburg County, robust funding for testing, contract tracing, and vaccine distribution, economic impact payments and rental assistance for Americans in need, and provisions that will raise the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025.

Tomorrow, Thursday, February 4, 2021 at approximately 11:00 a.m. in the Senate Swamp in front of the U.S. Capitol, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Representatives Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Alma Adams (D-NC), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Mondaire Jones (D-NY) will hold a press conference reintroducing their resolution calling on the President to take executive action to cancel up to $50,000 in debt for federal student loan borrowers.

This January in Congress has been unlike any other.
