Washington, D.C. – A bill introduced by Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D., (NC-12) to strengthen partnerships between Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and federal agencies was signed into law last week. The HBCU Propelling Agency Relationships Towards a New Era of Results for Students (PARTNERS) Act will strengthen partnerships between federal agencies and the country's more than 100 HBCUs.

This is Adams' third stand-alone bill to be signed into law during the 116th Congress.

WASHINGTON, D.C.Congresswoman Alma Adams' (NC-12) bill, the HBCU Capital Finance Debt Relief Act, which cancels over $1.3 billion in debt held by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), was included in the Omnibus spending deal. Additionally, many of Adams' priorities to build equity in higher education were included in the FY21 Omnibus.

WASHINGTON – Today, Congresswomen Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12), Haley Stevens (MI-11), and Delegate Gregorio Kilili Sablan (MP-At Large) led a letter with 22 of their colleagues calling on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to make K-12 teachers and school personnel a priority group for receiving COVID-19 vaccinations.

Charlotte - On National App Day, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) announces this year's Congressional App Challenge winners from Mecklenburg County. Since 2013, the Congressional App Challenge has provided high school students across the country the opportunity to create and display their software applications (or "app") for mobile, tablet, or computer devices. The competition is intended to encourage engagement in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education.
