WASHINGTON, DC – This week, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released a Black Maternal Health Week advocacy kit for individuals and organizations. Black Maternal Health Week is observed April 11-17.
The kit includes materials on Black Maternal Health Week, the Black Maternal Health Momnibuslegislation being introduced at both the federal and state levels, as well as the ongoing Black maternal health crisis that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12), Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ), Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14), and 77 original cosponsors have introduced a resolution recognizing Black Maternal Health Week, "to bring national attention to the maternal health crisis in the United States and the urgent importance of reducing maternal mortality and morbidity among Black women and birthing persons." Black Maternal Health Week is observed from April 11 through April 17.
WASHINGTON, DC – On Monday, April 12 at 10:00 AM ET, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) will host a Black Maternal Health Week press call with members of the North Carolina General Assembly and representatives from the Black Mamas Matter Alliance. The call will address the Black Maternal Health Momnibuslegislation being introduced at both the federal and state levels, as well as the ongoing Black maternal health crisis that has been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) introduced the Saving Transit Art Resources (STAR) Act, which would reinstate a federal flexibility that allows local transit authorities to incorporate art into federally- funded transit projects.
Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement mourning the passing of her colleague, Rep. Alcee Hastings of Florida:
"I am deeply saddened to hear of Congressman Hastings' passing," said Adams. "Alcee was a compassionate Congressman and a leader with conviction and purpose. I admired both his courage and his unique ability to bring reason and deep thought to the many conversations we shared. He was a friend and mentor we all respected, and I will miss his wise counsel and caring demeanor."
CHARLOTTE – On Tuesday, March 30 at 6:00 PM EDT, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) will host a town hall event for constituents on the American Rescue Plan, the $1.9 Trillion COVID-19 relief package passed earlier this month. The public is invited to attend and submit questions ahead of time.

Bobby Scott (D-VA), and Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), sent a letter to Secretary Marty Walsh urging the Department of Labor to take strong action to restore overtime pay protections for millions of workers.
