On the third Wednesday, we celebrated the inauguration of a new President and a historic Vice President, but the day was very different due to the pandemic. The Biden-Harris Administration got to work immediately to improve our response to COVID-19.
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congresswomen Alma Adams (NC-12),Congressman G. K. Butterfield (NC-01), and Kathy Manning (NC-06), introduced a resolution recognizing the significance of the Greensboro Four Sit-In of 1960. The resolution recognizes the four students of North Carolina A&T University for their contribution to the civil rights movement, and encourages all States to include this historical account in their educational curriculum.

Washington, D.C. – Tomorrow, Congresswomen Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12), Ilhan Omar (MN-05), and Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) will introduce an amendment to the Constitution of the United States "recognizing and securing the fundamental right to life, liberty, and property, which includes housing, health care, education, and nutrition."

Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) and other Democratic leaders introduced the Raise the Wage Act of 2021, which would gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $15 by 2025. As an original cosponsor of the bill, she is joined by Chairman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (VA-03), Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and Rep. Stephanie Murphy (FL-07).
