Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) was a tireless advocate for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), as well as a consistent voice on equity issues in education. Adams serves on the House Committee on Education and Labor, and as the co-chair and founder of the Congressional Bipartisan HBCU Caucus.

Charlotte - On National App Day, Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, Ph.D. (NC-12) announces this year's Congressional App Challenge winners from Mecklenburg County. Since 2013, the Congressional App Challenge has provided high school students across the country the opportunity to create and display their software applications (or "app") for mobile, tablet, or computer devices. The competition is intended to encourage engagement in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education.

The hearing, "1890 Land Grant Institutions – 130 Years of Building Equity in Agriculture," will focus on the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) that make up the program, including North Carolina A&T University.
