Adams (NC-12) joined Congresswoman Barbara Lee (D-CA), Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Congresswoman Diana DeGette (D-CO) and Congresswoman Louise Slaughter (D-NY) and more than 50 Members of Congress, in co-sponsoring the Equal Access to Abortion Coverage in Health Insurance (EACH Woman) Act. The EACH Woman Act ensures health coverage for abortion for every woman; regardless of income, insurance or residence.
Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Alma S. Adams (NC-12), a member of the House Education and the Workforce Committee and Subcommittee on Higher Education today announced more than $1.6 million in federal funding for six colleges and universities in North Carolina's 12th Congressional District. The funding was allocated through the U.S. Department of Education's TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program and will be used to provide services to foster retention and enhance graduation rates for disadvantaged, low-income and first generation college students.
