Washington, DC — Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) offered two amendments to H.R. 2740, the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, Defense, State and Foreign Operations, and Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act. Both amendments passed with broad bipartisan support and will be included in the House bill.
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12), and Congresswoman Lauren Underwood (IL-14), founders and co-chairs of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, introduced the Community Access to Resources and Education (CARE) for Families Act with Committee on Education and Labor Chairman Bobby Scott (VA-3). The CARE for Families Act will address maternal and infant mortality and morbidity. Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD-5), a member of the Black Maternal Health Caucus, expressed strong support for the bill today.

Washington, DC — This week, Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) offered an amendment to H.R. 1500, the Consumers First Act. The amendment would restore an interagency memorandum of understanding between the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Department of Education and would require the agencies to share information with each other about student loan servicers and student borrower complaints. The amendment passed unanimously and was included in the final bill that passed the House floor.
