Local issues in the District will always be the primary concern of Congresswoman Adams. She takes her duties as the U.S. Representative of North Carolina's 12th Congressional District very seriously. Whether she is securing federal funding for district schools or health care institutions, or fighting for a living wage and affordable taxes for her constituents, she will always put the needs of the 12th District first, and be its advocate in the House of Representatives.

Charlotte, NC—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement today after Governor McCrory signed bills into law limiting Governor-Elect Roy Cooper’s power.
“Governor McCrory and the Republican led General Assembly chose to put their egos ahead of the people of North Carolina” said Congresswoman Adams.
Charlotte, NC—Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the following statement regarding the second special session of the North Carolina General Assembly called on December 14th.

"This special session was called under the guise of ensuring relief for victims of Hurricane Matthew and the wildfires in Western North Carolina and it has devolved into a dangerous game of partisan politics.
Washington, D.C.— Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) released the below statement following the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) by the U.S. Senate. The NDAA included the Small and Disadvantaged Businesses Act of 2016, introduced by Congresswoman Adams. The NDAA will soon be signed into law by President Obama.
“I am proud to announce the passage of the Small and Disadvantaged Businesses Act of 2016 which will be my second bill signed into law” said Congresswoman Adams.

“Today I voted for a short-term continuing resolution that will fund our nation’s government until April 28, 2017” said Congresswoman Adams. “I am disappointed this Republican led Congress has once again failed the American people by not putting forth a long term budget, but there was too much at stake not to support this measure.

In February 2016, the North Carolina Supreme Court struck down the current Congressional districts and mandated that the North Carolina General Assembly redraw the lines. The new Congressional districts are slated to take effect when Members of the 115th Congress are sworn into office January 3, 2017. At that time, the 12th Congressional District will be in Mecklenburg County only.
